Scouts battle for honours at winter camp

From the Northern Echo, first published Wednesday 18th Feb 2004.

SCOUT groups from Teesdale and Bishop Auckland converged on a site in Weardale to take part in a winter camp.

The Bishop Auckland District Scout Group camp, called Camp Frosty, was held at White Kirkley, near Frosterley, at the weekend.

Teams of Scouts and Explorer Scouts competed for a trophy over the two days.

The teams took part in an incident hike, where they faced challenges including building the highest flag pole, crossing a river by constructing a rope bridge, and demonstrating how to deal with an injured team member.

The competition was won by a team of Explorer Scouts from the St George Explorer Unit, in Bishop Auckland.
